When it comes to improving the type and quality of employment opportunities for minorities, Dr. Candice Matthews knows that bringing together industry executives, suppliers, and entrepreneurs, along with elected officials, media professionals, and advertising companies, is crucial.
Matthews, who is the CEO and Executive Director for the Children of Diversity Foster Adoption Agency in Houston and Beaumont, Texas, has long been committed to helping improve opportunities for underserved minorities. That’s one reason why she also serves as the Texas Statewide Steering Committee Chair for the Rainbow Push Coalition.
Candice Matthews has a keen interest in politics and social justice. To that end, she is Statewide-Harris County Accountability Chair for the Texas Coalition Of Black Democrats.
As chair, Matthews created a comprehensive accountability program with evaluation and data tools for every level of government. Over the years, her interactions with various members of the public have informed the public policy efforts she currently serves in her role as a prominent community leader.
But her community involvement doesn’t end there. She spends countless hours designing, developing, and implementing strategic plans for the Children of Diversity Foster Adoption Agency organization. The idea is that someone has to be looking out for younger people in the community who lack a safe and happy household. Matthews saw a need and vowed to do her best to help meet the needs of these children.
Thanks to her efforts, the work is done in a cost-effective and time-efficient manner. Accordingly, Matthews oversees the agency’s day-to-day operations, from managing staff and committee activities, to creating business plans in conjunction with the Texas Department of Human Health Services and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. These multi-agency efforts are crucial for making progress in providing shelter for the underserved population.
Dr. Candice Matthews Promotes Expanding Minority Opportunities During Global Electrification
The Rainbow Push Coalition is holding its 2021 Rainbow PUSH/CEF Global Automotive Summit in Detroit, MI, scheduled for November 9-10, 2021.
People have been relying on the Rainbow Push Coalition to help promote civic rights since 1984. Rev. Jesse Jackson launched the coalition after his campaign for the U.S. presidency.
For context, it is the product of a merger between Operation Push (People United to Save Humanity, founded in 1971 by Rev. Jackson) and the Rainbow Coalition.
Dr. Candice Matthews, formerly known as Dr. Candice Enecio-Hinton, is proud to be affiliated with the Rainbow Push Coalition because of the positive effect it has on fostering community service.
She’s looking forward to the November summit, which will cover such vital topics as global purchasing, diversity and inclusion initiatives, professional services, and social and economic justice.
The 2021 Rainbow PUSH/CEF Global Automotive Summit, the 22nd annual event from this organization, is slated to run November 9-10, 2021, at 2901 Grand River Ave., Detroit, MI at the Motor City Casino Hotel Conference Center. The conference theme is “Expanding Minority Opportunities During Global Electrification.”
With the automotive industry being a leader in innovation around the world, it represents a crucial opportunity for qualified African-Americans along with other people of color to experience more opportunities in the workforce.
The summit’s organizers have designed this year’s event to “discuss strengthening and creating opportunities in the automotive industry for people of color. It is our belief that when the rules are public and the goals are clear, we all have a chance to win.”
At the summit, the coalition anticipates that approximately 400 entrepreneurs, automotive executives, car dealers, government officials, advertising companies, technology businesses, media organizations and other concerned parties will gather to talk about how they can do more to create opportunities for people of color to participate in the auto industry.
Dr. Candice Matthews is anticipating that the upcoming Rainbow PUSH/CEF Global Automotive Summit in Detroit, MI, November 9-10, 2021, will be a thought-provoking event. Participants from all around the world will convene to help improve the lives of minorities by gaining entry into positions in the automotive industry.
In a world where the auto industry is refocusing to “go green” by developing electric-powered vehicles on a massive scale, there will be a need for new thinking from young professionals coming from diverse backgrounds.
The Global Automotive Summit being promoted by Rainbow Push will be a useful gathering place for the vehicle industry’s movers and shakers to exchange ideas and share different viewpoints to help move the needle for people of color.
